ABOUT CREE

The Woman
Behind the Words

"I’ve always considered myself a wildflower."

Not because life has always been gentle, but because somehow, I’ve learned to grow wherever I’ve been planted. Through the beautiful, the messy, the unexpected, and the “now how in the hell did I get here?” moments—I’ve kept growing.

I’m Cree Charnele: storyteller, deep thinker, professional overthinker, lover of Black culture, and a woman who believes some of our greatest healing begins when we finally say the things everybody knows—but nobody talks about.

In May 2026, I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Central University. My education gave me language for something I had already understood deeply: people carry stories. Some we tell proudly. Some we whisper. And some we bury so deeply that we almost forget they’re there.

Writing gave me another way to make room for those stories.

My work is rooted in the Black experience—the laughter, the love, the survival, the family secrets, the Sunday mornings, the kitchen-table conversations, the strength we celebrate, and the tenderness we don’t always give ourselves permission to have.

I don’t write because I have everything figured out. Baby, I’m still growing too.

I write because I believe there is freedom in telling the truth. Freedom in recognizing yourself in somebody else’s story. Freedom in realizing that survival may be part of your story, but it doesn’t have to be the end of it.

So if something I write makes you laugh, cry, clutch your pearls, call your cousin and say “Girl…”, sit quietly for a minute, or finally put words to something you’ve carried for years—

then I’ve done what I came here to do.

Still blooming.

Still becoming.

Still a wildflower.
